Why 108 Sun Salutations?

June 19, 2015

Afbeelding12Traditionally worldwide yogi’s gather upon the change of the seasons to perform 108 Sun Salutations (54 rounds), quite often as a offering for a social purpose. On the 20th of June* we do this also together with a group of yogi’s in Stavanger and all the donations of the event will go to Kafé og Byttebu a local social initiative. 108 Sun Salutations is quite a workout, it will take you about 75 minutes to complete it. Together with a warm-up at the beginning and stretching & relaxation at the end the whole practice will take about 2 hours.

In preparation of the event in Stavanger a lot of people asked me, why 108? There are several reasons for this and I will elaborate on that in this blog.Continue Reading . . .

Sun Salutations

June 17, 2015

In this blog I will write regulary about the different asana’s (yoga postures) and sequences, to give more background information, funny facts and suggestions about it. I will kick-off with the Sun Salutations. This sequence of postures in different variations is commonly used to warm up the body.

Yoga Retreat in Portugal

May 20, 2015

Last week I went to Portugal together with my sister. A small working holiday to prepare the yoga retreat that I will host in September. During this trip we worked really hard ;-). We made city trips to Porto and Aveiro, went to the beach and had lovely dinners at sunset. But we also visited The Farm where we will stay during the retreat, an amazing old Portuguese Farm in the middle of nature, with an ecological swimming pool. With our local guides, the best ever, we also went on a bike tour,  a hike to the waterfall, with a lunch in the middle of nature up in the mountains. During both days we did several photo shoots. The result is amazing, watch the video below.
